Monday-morning analytics: five questions in five minutes

Analytics has a failure mode nobody talks about: the two-hour Monday session that ends with seventeen open tabs and zero decisions. Here is the antidote — a five-minute ritual, same order every week.

The five questions

• What changed this week? Glance at the chart. Spikes and dips first, causes second.
• Which pages gained? Pages sorted by visitors tells you what the internet voted for.
• Where did they come from? Referrers and campaigns, compared against what you actually did.
• Did anything convert? Events and goals next to traffic — that pairing is the whole game.
• Anything weird? The live feed. Five seconds of watching beats five reports of guessing.
